The Maker

Sawback Trading Co. looks for makers whose work reflects a clear point of view — people who choose materials honestly, build tools that function, and make objects worth keeping. Cutelaria Martins is the first partner maker we represent, and they were selected because their knives meet that standard without compromise.

Their folding knives are working tools with genuine character. They are not made to impress on a shelf. They are made to be carried, used, and appreciated over time.

Made in Portugal

Portugal has a long tradition of producing folding knives that are at once regional in character and universally practical. These are not collector's pieces — they are everyday tools shaped by a culture that values honest craft, natural materials, and objects built to last through genuine use.

The knives Sawback carries from Martins sit firmly in that tradition. Wood, steel, and considered construction. Nothing superfluous.

Details Matter

Good knives reveal themselves in the details — the profile of the blade, the shape of the handle, and the fit between materials. Explore three details of the Martins bushcraft knife below.

Why Sawback Carries Martins

Our selection criteria are straightforward: we look for tools that are useful by design, made with purpose, built from materials that age well, and worth carrying for years rather than seasons.

Cutelaria Martins met that standard. Their folding knives are not marketed on hype or limited-edition scarcity. They are simply well-made tools from a maker who takes the work seriously.

That is why they are here.
